RE: Camping lights/Decor!!!!!!

I like to see the other campers lights, too, but please, oh please, make sure you turn them off at quiet time! I can tell that everyone here was not the people parked by us this last weekend. They kept their multitudes of lights on all night long. And don't think it only disturbs the people next to you. A perfectly placed light can shine all night long in a rig rows away. Also, the washer pitch game at midnight isn't a good idea either.

RE: Wayward kids wandering into campsite

It is not just the kids. At the campground we are currently at both adults and kids think they own the place. They ride bikes and golf carts all over the place and don't care if you are in their way. They certainly aren't going to move. If you are in a car they won't even move to the side of the road! One rode right behind me as I was backing-up yesterday. The parents just stand there and stare at you. I know if my kid did that he certainly wouldn't be enjoying time on a bike anymore! I realize this is a "family" campground but that doesn't mean leave your brain at home! - Treasa

RE: Care-free Window awning problem?

The window awnings are repairable. We just had the one on our slide done. Total came to about $150 for the part and labor.

RE: Near Jacksom MS ??

We just left LeFluer's Bluff the other day. Nice campground and nice people working there. No sewers but there is a dump station.

RE: Dr, Visits

I have to have blood work done every three months to monitor my medication. My doctor writes me orders for this that I take to a lab/clinic wherever I happen to be. They send the results to her. I see her when I am in the area, at least once a year. I have been seeing this doctor for about 20 years so we are on good working terms. I get my medication filled through a mail order house.

RE: Buying a Used Tow Bar

Mke sure you can get a bolt kit from Roadmaster for it before you buy and that you get all the parts from the seller. We bought an older model and were unable to use it without getting custom bolts. Roadmaster no longer carried the necessary parts. They also use the same model number as the new one but the parts were not interchangeable. A lot of trouble and time involved.

RE: Irvine, CA

Canyon RV Park is a nice park and not as expensive as Newport Dunes. It is right next to the 91 frwy in Yorba Linda but feels like you are miles away. Depending on the time of day the drive can be anywhere from 15 minutes to a really long time depending on traffic. It has full hookups.

RE: Lost wheel hub cover !

Try this place Wheel Masters The phone number is (360) 213-0380. Their prices aren't bad, either. We had to order a cover from them and it arrived in a timely manner and was priced right.

RE: No Photos Allowed?

The Alamo does allow photography everywhere except the SANCTUARY! It is for reverence for those who died. Take all the pictures you want outside. Many times places don't allow pictures for this very reason. There is also the reason of damage to the artifacts, photos, etc. Others are correct when they say that people don't know how to turn off the flash. I love to take pictures but I also obey the rules and find it distracting when others don't. If you don't like the rules, don't stay.

RE: Would those of you who have had total knee surgery tell me?

I had my right knee done two years ago. Like everyone else, I wish I hadn't of waited so long. I was 52 at the time. We tried the orthoscopic first but it really didn't do that much. I was camping within 3 weeks of surgery. Do the therapy and be careful with the pain killers. I actually thought the pain from the surgery was less than the pain I had every day. Research the doctor and make sure they do a lot of this type of surgery.

RE: HORRIBLE! Fairway Ford RV Service Center

I'm really surprised. We used Fairway Ford for a number of years and never had a problem with them. We haven't used them in the last year as we have moved so I guess something must have changed.

RE: Best Nashville Eats?

I second Jack's as the best BBQ in town. I was underwhelmed with Cock 'o the Walk but it is OK.
I also recommend buying tickets to the Opry online before you get there. Take the General Jackson riverboat dinner cruise.

RE: residency change & home ownership

If your child pays rent you would have to file for th eincome but you could deduct the interest on the loan and therefore negate the rent.
CA is real picky so make sure you dot the i's and cross the t's.

RE: residency change & home ownership

Yes it is possible. We did this last year. There is no law that says you cannot own property in different states. You will have to file a CA tax return each year. We discussed this with a tax guy before starting out on our fulltime adventure and were assured everything was fine.

RE: Appliance questions

I have the Cuisinart Griddler instead of a George Forman. I think it is built better. I use it for grilling meat instead of a BBQ. Easy cleanup as the plates are removable. It opens flat so you can use it as a griddle.
As for the Kitchen Aid, I left it at the house with my daughter-in-law. Most of the time I don't miss it as I don't bake that much in the rig (we are trying to cut back on that stuff). I did miss it during the holidays for baking. If you plan on doing a lot of baking I would recommend finding a place for it, if not, put it in storage but don't sell it!

RE: Blackout Shades "The Cheap Way"?

I purchased some blackout material from a fabric store, sewed a rod pocket on the top and a straight hem. The sides were left alone as they were jsut about the right size. Inserted a tension rod in the pocket and inserted in the window frame. Very inexpensive and they are easy to remove. You can buy different thicknesses of the material. Ours is really dark.

RE: Convection Oven - Help

I continued to have problems with mine and decided to check the oven out. I used an oven thermometer and it turns out my oven is about 50 degrees low! I now adjust the temperature up and it works fine. I have used the "sensor" cooking for baked potatoes and it does those fabulously.
